Speaking of quality. I contacted A-data and told them what happened and asked if maybe they could give me a deal/discount on another one, I was ready to pay. I have some other USB flash drives in 16GB but none are as fast (and this is a fast drive) or as good of quality. The retractable feature (which works flawlessly and not accidentally closing like others I've had) makes the key ring possible. I am a computer/network engineer and I keep this full with all of my utilities. For me, it is A-Data all the way for flash drives. I tilted the machine forward and the extended and mounted drive was crushed to the bench due to my own stupid ignorance (I was HOT). I had this very drive in a port that was almost at ground level.
A brand new one arrived NO CHARGE.As we all know. In my opinion poop always happens, it's not a matter of "if". and on my key ring so I will not lose it. They had me send it in and poof. we have had a couple of drives die due to bad USB ports and A-data's service/warranty people were EXCELLENT. it's how the poop gets cleaned up that really counts. these days it is hard to find a company with good quality AND good service to match. I am not familiar with their other products (other than about three different models of USB flash drives) so I cannot speak for those. The only reason I decided to write this somewhat late to the device review is because I see that they are finally making a 32GB version and I was searching for it when I came across this review page (figured I would finally give some back to the "review" community)Bottom lineFAST.Retractor works like it should, lock is solid but the mechanism slides very easy.Build quality is excellent, durable yet light and small in the pocket and not a problem toting on a "busy" keyring.Superior service/lifetime warranty (no beating that)Hope this helpsRod
Beside having a huge capacity for something that is as big as your finger, it is the fastest read/write time of any thumb drive I have ever used. I highly recommend this item.
It's nice to be able to quickly carry around 16GB of data with the ease of plugging into any USB adapter. It's not superfast, but it gets the job done.In fact it does take a while to transfer some of the large files that fit on here. Also, the slide out adapter feels a bit flimsy. It locks in it's out position without any click or anything, which has caused me to not know that it wasn't locked a few times. This when I went to plug it in, the plug would just slide back into the unit. On a side note, it did accidentally go through the washer once.It still works. for now.
no complaints what so ever. i think it is one of the rare successful investment that i've ever made. i put chain on this device and put it on me like a necklace, carrying it with me all the time.very durable, well built. i even run with it dangling on my neck when i'm late for classes, it still gives me no problem.highly recommended for students & professional who are in need of carrying bigger capacity of data.
I liked the drive when I first saw it. Quite happy with it. I was very dissapointed when started to use it.
It looks cool, I like the fact that is white, the retractable connector is fine, but otherwise is quite light and seemns cheap. It would take too long to fill it (about 50min). I've searched the net for info and I thought would be a great choice, it seemed fast enough for the capacity.
The write speed does not go over 5000KB/s, witch is less than in what I've read. You loose 1GB with every 16Gb, that's ok. But.
The read speed instead is ok, about 20MB/s. But I'd reccomand the PD7, witch writes with 20MB/s and reads with 30MB/s.
